March 23 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian banks' outstanding loans to the non-government sector grew 5.3% year-on-year to 285.5 billion lei ($69 billion/58 billion euro) in February, compared to a 5.1% growth in January, the central bank, BNR, said on Tuesday.
Private lending in lei increased by 9.9% on the year to 199.6 billion lei in February, after growing by 8.8% in January, BNR said in a statement.
Private lending in foreign currency fell 3.9% on the year to 85.9 billion lei in February, compared to a 2.3% drop in January.
