September 23 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian bank deposits by the non-government sector grew 11.8% on the year to 258.49 billion lei ($65.2 billion/58 billion euro) in August, decelerating from a 12.2% increase in July, the country's central bank, BNR said on Friday.
Leu deposits increased 15.1% year-on-year to174.73 billion lei in August, after growing 15% in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
The annual growth in foreign currency deposits, however, slowed down from 6.9% in July to 5.4% in August, when they amounted to 83.76 billion lei.
