November 28 (SeeNews) - Romanian bourse indices closed mostly lower on Wednesday in higher turnover as blue chips led the falls, brokers said.
"The overall falls were caused mainly by the blue-chip shares and specifically by Petrom, BRD bank and Impact," one broker told SeeNews.
Blue-chip oil and gas group Petrom fell 2.63% to 0.481 lei in 4.7 million lei of turnover. The other blue-chip bank, BRD, lost 2.13% to 23.00 lei in 2.9 million lei of turnover. Impact Developer & Contractor dropped 8.89% to 0.41 lei in turnover of 537,000 lei.
The Bucharest Stock Exchange's (BVB) blue-chip BET index dropped 2.43% to 8,547.68 points. The composite BET-C index fell 1.32% to 6,108.51 and the ROTX index of Romania's 11 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, lost 2.23% to 19,043.78. The BET-FI, which tracks the SIF regional investment funds, was the only index to gain ground, adding 0.59% to 68,541.01
Share turnover on the BVB rose to 56.1 million lei ($23 million/16 million euro) from 49.5 million on Tuesday. BVB's overall volume more than doubled to 82.7 million shares from 30 million. Turnover was boosted by one deal worth 14 million lei for 38.5 million shares of consumer electronics and IT retailer Flamingo International at 0.365 lei per share. In regular trading Flamingo International’s shares lost 2.39% to close at 0.327 lei.
SIF 4 Muntenia was the most heavily traded stock in regular trading, closing unchanged at 2.05 lei in turnover of 5.8 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova added 0.66% to 3.03 lei in the second highest turnover of 5.4 million lei. Blue chip Banca Transilvania ended down 0.62% at 0.80 lei in the third largest turnover of 4.7 million lei.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, shed 0.35% to 4,350.62. Turnover on the RASDAQ market rose to 5.3 million lei from 4.8 million on Tuesday. Gas transport firm Armax was the most traded stock on the RASDAQ, closing 2.19% higher at 0.28 lei in turnover of 751,300 lei. (1 euro = 3.5718 Romanian lei)
