February 23 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian banks' outstanding loans to the non-government sector rose 0.9% year-on-year in January, reaching 218 billion lei ($50.6 billion/48.2 billion euro), after growing 1.2% in December, the central bank, BNR, said on Thursday.
Private lending in lei increased 13.8% on the year to 125.1 billion lei in January, decelerating from a 14.3% growth in December, BNR said in a statement.
Private lending in foreign currency decreased 12.5% to 92.8 billion lei, following a 12.2% decline in December.
