ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- Romanian President Traian Basescu, the leader of the Social Democratic Party Mircea Geoana and controversial Romanian businessman George Becali, leader of the New Generation Party - Christian Democrat, all said they will run for president in the November 22 elections.
- About 23,000 Romanians will lose their jobs in the September-December period, the country's employment agency said.

- Romanian President Traian Basescu said that the country's economy could switch to growth in the second quarter of 2010.
- Romanian public sector employees hold a one-day general strike on Monday to protest against the unified wage bill, the agency said. More than 750,000 workers in education, health, public administration sectors and policemen are expected to take part in the strike.
BUSINESS STANDARD
- Romania's nine-month consolidated budget deficit is estimated at 5.0% of the gross domestic product projected for this year, below an IMF-agreed target of 5.4%, Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea said.
- Former Romanian farm sector insurer Agras, owned by Austrian insurance group Uniqa, will enter the life insurance segment by the middle of next year, Romanian-based Uniqa Asigurari said.
