ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- Bancpost, the eighth-largest Romanian bank by assets, is implementing an extensive restructuring programme, aiming to cut costs after posting negative financial results in recent quarters. The programme comprises staff cuts, branch closures and changes in salary packages, market sources said.
- Shareholders of Romanian telecommunications group RCS&RDS will discuss on September 17 plans to increase company’s share capital by 208 million lei ($70 million/49 million euro) to 250 million lei through cash injections or a debt-for-equity swap.
- Romanian courier services provider Fan Courier's turnover rose by an annual 13.7% to 82 million lei in the first six months, the company said.

- Romania may raise taxes collected by local governments by 20% next year in a move that will increase their budget revenue by 970 million euro ($1.4 billion), according to official sources.
- Bucharest is the cheapest city in Europe, according to a survey conducted by Swiss bank UBS in March. The Romanian capital occupies 67th position in a ranking of 73 cities worldwide, while Bulgaria’s capital Sofia ranks 58th.

- Swedish furniture and accessories retailer IKEA sees a 12% increase in its sales in Romania in the fiscal year ending August 31, the company’s second year of operations on the Romanian furniture market, which is expected to decline by up to 20% over the same period.
