May 5 (SeeNews) - Romania's central bank, BNR, maintained on Friday its monetary policy rate at a record low 1.75%, in line with analysts' expectations.
BNR's board decided to cut the minimum reserve requirement ratio on foreign exchange-denominated liabilities of credit institutions to 8% from 10% starting with the May 24 - June 23, 2017 maintenance period. The minimum reserve requirement ratio on leu-denominated liabilities remains unchanged at 8%, it said in a statement.
BNR noted it will pursue an adequate liquidity management in the banking system.
BNR last changed its monetary policy rate in May 2015, when it cut it by 25 basis points to 1.75%.
Romania's annual inflation rate was 0.2% in March, at the same level as in the previous month.
