July 26 (SeeNews) - Orange Romania said on Thursday its revenues rose 3.4% on the year to 275 million euro ($332 million) in the second quarter, driven by growth in the number of mobile subscribers and higher sales of fixed-mobile services and equipment.
Mobile Internet traffic surged by 80% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2018 supported by an increase in smartphone sales and by investments in 4G and 4G+ networks, Orange Romania, a unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange, said in an interim financial report.
TV services provided by Orange Romania had 448,000 customers at the end of June, a 12.6% increase year-on-year. Fixed broadband services had 234,000 customers at the end of the second quarter, up 67% on the year.
"Our customers want to be connected anywhere, anytime, regardless of technology. In addition to uninterrupted connectivity and mobility, they want a simple and handy experience, and the digital solutions we propose meet these needs," Orange Romania CEO, Liudmila Climoc, said.

Orange Romania revenues increased by 8% last year relative to 2016, reaching 1.07 billion euro due to increased use of mobile data and higher sales of fixed-mobile packages and mobile equipment.
Romania’s market of just over 20 million people is served by five mobile operators - Orange Romania; Telekom Romania, former Cosmote Romania; RCS&RDS; Vodafone Romania; and insolvent 2K Telecom.
