July 25 (SeeNews) - Orange Romania said on Thursday its first-half revenues fell 2.2% on the year to 534 million euro ($596.4 million), mainly due to a change in mobile termination rates and a slight drop in equipment sales.
Orange Romania, a unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange, had 10.736 million customers at the end of June, up 2% on the year, the company said in an interim financial report.
The number of mobile customers of Orange Romania rose by 0.2% on the year to 9.572 million at the end of June.
Orange Romania's TV services had 528,000 customers at end-June 2019, a 17% increase year-on-year. Fixed broadband services had 317,700 customers at the end of the first half of 2019, up 35% on the year
"Our efforts are focused on delivering the best converged customer services, integrated IT & C solutions for businesses, the growth of the mobile financial services segment and the development of digital skills and the Agile working method in teams. Continuous network investments are the foundation of all of this," Orange Romania CEO Liudmila Climoc said.
Orange Romania's revenues increased by 5% last year relative to 2017, reaching 1.125 billion euro driven by growth of fixed-mobile services and higher mobile data consumption.
Romania’s market of just over 20 million people is served by five mobile operators - Orange Romania; Telekom Romania, former Cosmote Romania; RCS&RDS; Vodafone Romania; and insolvent 2K Telecom.
At group level, Orange posted revenues of 20.6 billion euro in the first half of 2019, up 0.2% on the year.
