PRISTINA (Kosovo), March 2 (SeeNews) – The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Kosovo totalled 266.4 million euro ($293.7 million) last year, lower than 272.1 million euro in 2018, according to preliminary data published by the central bank.
By comparison, foreign remittances to Kosovo totalled 851.7 million euro in 2019, up 6.4% year-on-year.
In December alone, foreign direct investment recorded a negative net flow of 18.0 million euro, from a growth of 23.8 million euro in the same month of 2018, central bank data showed.
The biggest volume of inbound foreign investment in Kosovo in December, of 6.7 million euro, originated in Switzerland. Austria followed with 2.5 million euro.
The sectors, which attracted the biggest volume of investment by non-residents in December were real estate, renting and business activities with 22.9 million euro, and electricity, gas and water supply with 9.3 million euro.
