November 10 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's governing left-wing SDSM party decided that prime minister Zoran Zaev has to postpone indefinitely his resignation until the political situation in the country is stabilised, Pero Kostadinov, chairman of the party's central committee, said.
SDSM will work in the next period to avoid a new political crisis in the country, Kostadinov said in a statement on Tuesday.
Zaev announced in late October that he is stepping down as head of government following his party's defeat in the local elections.
Main opposition VMRO-DPMNE party said earlier this week it has filed a motion of no confidence against the government. The motion was signed by 61 members of the 120-seat parliament and supported by the Alliance of Albanians (AA), the Besa Movement and the Levica party.
VMRO-DPMNE said over the weekend that it has formed a majority in the current parliament that would replace the SDSM government following Zaev's resignation.
