February 25 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's budget was in deficit of 2.7 billion denars ($53.4 million/43.6 million euro) in January, compared with a 1.2 billion denars gap in the same month last year, finance ministry data showed.
Consolidated budget revenues totalled 14.8 billion denars in the first month of the year, compared with 15.6 billion denars in January 2020, as tax revenues fell to 50 million denars from 103 million denars, figures showed.
Total expenditures rose to 17.5 billion denars in the month under review, compared with 16.8 billion denars in the same month the previous year.
At the end of 2020, North Macedonia's budget was in deficit of 53.9 billion denars, compared with a 13.6 billion denars gap at the end of 2019.
North Macedonia's parliament in December adopted the 2021 budget with a deficit equivalent to 4.9% of the estimated gross domestic product (GDP).
