March 30 (SeeNews) - The number of coronavirus cases in North Macedonia has increased to 259, as the death toll from the Covid-19 disease reached six, health minister Venko Filipce said.

Over the past 24 hours, 18 new patients have been diagnosed with the disease and two people have fell victim to the infection, Filipce said during a news conference on Sunday.

The latest victims are at the age of 31 and 91 years, the minister said. Three patients have so far recovered.

Last week, North Macedonia's president Stevo Pendarovski declared a 30-day nationwide state of emergency over the coronavirus outbreak.

The country also imposed a curfew in an effort to limit the spread of the disease. The movement of all citizens is restricted across the country from 9 pm to 5 am. On weekends, the curfew is maintained between 4 pm and 5 am.

In addition, people under 18 are not allowed to leave their homes from 9 pm until noontime the following day, while people over 67 years of age are restricted from leaving their homes between 11 am and 5 am the next day.
