March 14 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's healthcare and spa center Institut Simo Milosevic Igalo faces a strike initiated by its catering department employees over unpaid wages, with other departments set to join on March 25, local media reported on Thursday.
Patient admissions will stop, except for the pediatric department, starting March 25, Maria Obradovic, head of the centre's trade union, was quoted as saying by the Vijesti daily.
Obradovic said that employees received their November salary on December 25 last year, and it was also the last one they have received. As a result, they have not received their last three salaries.
The spa centre faces debts of more than 20 million euro ($21.8 million), which prompted Montenegro's government to establish a special commission last month, in order to to address the centre's persistent liquidity issues.
The company has reported a net loss of 157,328 euro in the first nine months of 2023, compared to a net profit of 2,995 euro in the prior-year period.
