July 22 (SeeNews) - The average gross salary in Moldova, one of Europe's poorest nations, fell by a real 0.4% on the year to 4,863.9 lei ($245/222 euro) in May, following an annual rise of 0.2% in April, statistics office data showed on Friday.
In nominal terms, May's average gross wage was 7.5% higher on the year, the office said in a statement.
The average gross salary in the public sector was 4,177.6 lei in May, up 3% on the year in nominal terms.
In the private sector, the gross wage was 5,152 lei in May, up by a nominal 9.2% on the year.

In 2015, the average monthly gross salary in Moldova grew by a real 0.7% on the year to 4,610.9 lei.
