November 16 (SeeNews) - Tourist arrivals in Moldova decreased by 19.9% on the year to 43,520 in the first nine months of 2009, with visitors from Russia and neighbouring Romania and Ukraine topping the list, Moldova's statistics bureau said on Monday.
Some 12.3% of all tourists came from Russia and 12.1% arrived from Ukraine. Romania followed with a 11.2% share of total tourists in the first nine months of the year, the bureau said in a statement.
Nationals from Italy and the U.S. accounted for 6.6% and 6.5%, respectively, of all tourist arrivals.
Overnights fell by 28.1% on the year to 108,855 in the first nine months of 2009.
