October 1 (SeeNews) - Moldova's first-half current account deficit was equivalent to 10.6% of the gross domestic product (GDP) projected for this year, down from 20.0% a year earlier, data from the country's central bank, BNM, indicated on Thursday.
The deficit decreased to $271.17 million (186 million euro) in the first half of 2009 from $538.8 million a year ago, BNM said in a statement.
In the second quarter alone, the deficit dropped to $55.51 million from $306.55 million in the same period of 2008, BNM said.
