October 1 (SeeNews) - Moldova's Chisinau international airport handled 452,600 passengers in the first eight months of 2007, up by 24% from a year earlier, the country's Civil Aviation Department CAA said on Monday.
The number of passengers on scheduled flights rose by 24.7% on the year to 421,600 through August. Moldova's three air carriers handled 61.7% of the total passenger traffic, CAA said in a statement.
Flag carrier Air Moldova was the market leader with 208,800 passengers transported through August, up by an annual 16.6%, CAA added. Moldavian Airlines followed with 32,900 passengers, up by 2.5% on the year.
Moscow, Istanbul and Frankfurt were the most popular of the 17 destinations offered by the airport.
