December 4 (SeeNews) - The total premium income of Moldovan insurance companies rose by 24.9% on the year to 512.7 million lei ($45.6 million/30.9 million euro) in the first nine months this year, the country's securities commission CNPF said on Tuesday.
Voluntary property insurance generated some 32% of the insurers' total premium income, CNPF said in a statement.
Indemnities paid by the 33 insurers operating in Moldova through September grew by an annual 14.3% to 154.4 million lei. The total assets of the insurers rose by 42.8% on the year to 367.3 million lei at the end of September.
The country's largest insurers were Asito which had 29.3% of the total premium income, and Moldasig with 20.2% of the total premium income in the nine-month period, CNPF said.
