March 1 (SeeNews) - Moldovan low-cost air carrier FlyOne said on Wednesday it will launch a new route from the country's capital Chisinau to UK's Birmingham starting June 6.
This will mark the beginning of FlyOne's operations at Birmingham International Airport, the air carrier said in a press release.
Fly One will operate three times a week from Birmingham, using a 144-seat Airbus A319 each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
“We wish that our three-times weekly scheduled flight that will connect Birmingham to Chisinau starting from June 6th, will be welcomed and fully utilized by both our territories to possibly foresee growth and durable collaboration," FlyOne's general manager Nicu Berla, said.
Currently, Fly One flies from Chisinau to Moscow, St Petersburg and Voronezh (Russia), Milan, Parma, Verona and Venice (Italy), Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona, Valencia (Spain), Dublin (Ireland) and Paris (France).
“ We hope that the service will be also welcomed by the friends and relatives market wanting to gain direct access to this part of Eastern Europe as well as those looking for an alternative city break destination," Birmingham airport’s aviation director William Pearson said in a separate statement.
In December, the air carrier said it will launch a route from Chisinau to Italy's capital Rome on March 26. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A319 aircraft.
FlyOne was founded in 2015 as a cabin crew and flight crew services operator. In May 2016, the company was transformed into a low-cost air carrier. It was founded by Romanian training organisation Fly Level, which operates aviation training centres in Chisinau and Romania's Bucharest.
