August 26 (SeeNews) - Moldova extended the state of healthcare emergency until September 15 due to the worsening coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemiological situation, the government announced on Wednesday.
Restrictions regarding the organisation of mass events and activities involving elderly people will remain in place, the government said in a press release.
People are not allowed to go out in public in groups of more than three and the elderly should avoid any unnecessary outdoor activity. Face masks are compulsory in public transport, shops and in any public indoor space.
As of Wednesday, the country with a population of 3.5 million has registered 34,982 coronavirus cases and 967 deaths. A total of 24,156 people have recovered. Some 33,560 people are in self-isolation.
Moldova has been in a state of public healthcare emergency since May 15.
