September 17 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's producer price index (PPI) for the industrial sector rose 0.8% month-on-month in August, after going up by a monthly 0.5% in July, the State Statistical Office said on Monday.
August's PPI was 1.2% higher than a year earlier. In July it was unchanged on a yearly basis.
Cumulative PPI through August rose 0.8%. Macedonia's PPI rose by 4.5% in 2006 after increasing by 3.2% in 2005.

NOTE: Economists see changes in producer prices as a key indicator of trends in consumer price inflation. Macedonia's monthly consumer price inflation rose by 0.6% in August after decreasing by 0.3% in July.
