March 1 (SeeNews) - London was the most popular flight destination among Bulgarians last year with a share of 20% out of all bookings made in the country, according to Bulgarian travel agency eSky.
Italy's Milan came second in the rankings as 4.4% of all Bulgarian passengers chose the destination last year, eSky said in a statement earlier this week.
Germany's Berlin was the third most visited destination in 2016 with a share of 4.3%. Frankfurt fell to fourth place in 2016 from second in 2015.
Among the airlines operating in Bulgaria, Ireland's Ryanair held the largest share last year, followed by Wizz Air and the national carrier Bulgaria Air.
In the first two months of 2017, London, Rome and Milan were the most visited foreign cities by Bulgarian air travellers.
Ryanair said earlier it plans to launch flights from Bulgaria's Plovdiv to Milan Bergamo and Brussels as well as a flight from Varna to Brussels in 2017.
Wizz Air announced in 2017 it plans to add flights from Sofia to Frankfurt and from Varna to Tel Aviv to its summer schedule.
