April 3 (SeeNews) - Labour demand in Croatia decreased by 5.1% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, the indicator's biggest decline in the last three years, a local think-tank said on Wednesday.
In seasonally adjusted terms, labour demand fell by 3.0% in the January-March period of 2024 compared to the previous quarter, which is the biggest drop in the last year and a half, the Institute of Economics Zagreb (EIZ) said in a monthly report.
The Online Vacancy Index (OVI) measuring labour demand recorded in March its largest annual drop in the last 37 months, of 8.2%.
In March, the OVI index fell by 4.2% compared to February, its biggest monthly decrease since June last year, according to seasonally adjusted data.
Salesperson, waiter, cook, warehouse worker, and driver were still the most sought-after jobs in March, same as a year ago, although the number of job advertisements for all occupations except cooks fell in March on an annual level, EIZ said.
