September 11 (SeeNews) - Kosovo’s July trade deficit widened by 0.62% year-on-year to 155.65 million euro ($227.05 million) as both exports and imports fell on the year, the Kosovo Statistics Office said on Friday.
Kosovo's June trade deficit was 147.13 million euro, down by 4.7% from a year earlier. In July 2008 the trade deficit was 154.7 million euro, up by 13.9% on the year.
The European Union was Kosovo's main foreign market in July 2009. Exports to the EU accounted for 28.4% of the total. Italy was Kosovo's main export destination with a 16.9% share.
Kosovo's imports originated mainly in the EU, which had a 38.8% share of the total, followed by Macedonia with a 18.5% share.
