April 14 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's economy is expected to contract 5% in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Tuesday.
The economy is then expected to recover in 2021 with a 7.5% growth of gross domestic product (GDP), the IMF said in the April 2020 edition of World Economic Outlook report.
The average consumer price inflation is seen at 1.6% in 2020 and 1.9% in 2021, the IMF said.
Kosovo's current account deficit is forecast at 7.4% of GDP in 2020 and 5.1% in 2021.
The IMF also said it expects Kosovo's government borrowing to reach 4.8% of GDP in 2020, before narrowing to 2.7% of GDP in 2021.
