September 14 (SeeNews) - Kosovo collected 393.01 million euro ($571.9 million) in gross customs revenue in the first eight months of 2009, up by 4.0% on the year, Kosovo's customs service said on Monday.
Gross customs revenue through August was 2.44% below target, the customs service figures posted on its website showed.
Kosovo plans to collect 665.3 million euro in customs revenue this year. Last year it collected 590.6 million euro in gross customs revenue, up 12.34% from 2007 and 1.3% above target.
Kosovo, where 90% of the population is ethnic Albanian, declared its secession from Serbia in February 2008, after almost nine years under the administration of the United Nations.
