May 26 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's trade deficit increased 4.8% year-on-year to 753.7 million euro ($845.9 million) in the January-April period, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports rose 13.3% on the year in the first four months of 2017 to 107.6 million euro, whereas imports added 6% to 861.3 million euro, the statistical office said in a monthly economic report.
In April alone, Kosovo's trade gap shrank 3.1% year-on-year to 220.7 million euro, with exports jumping 35.5% to 31.2 million euro and imports up 0.5% to 251.9 million euro.
Kosovo's main export destinations in April were Albania, Macedonia, Serbia and India. Base metals, mineral products, plastic products, as well as food, beverages and tobacco were Kosovo's main export items.
Mineral products, food, beverages and tobacco, machinery, appliances and electric materials, and base metals made up the bulk of Kosovo's imports in April. Most of the imports originated from Serbia, Germany and Turkey.
