PRISTINA (Kosovo), February 7 (SeeNews) – The combined net profit of Kosovo's insurance companies declined to 3.0 million euro ($3.4 million) in 2018, from 6.9 million euro a year earlier, as the number of insurance companies fell by one, central bank data showed on Thursday.
Kosovo insurers' gross written premiums increased to 92.1 million euro last year from 86.7 million euro in 2017, according to data published by the central bank.
Gross written premiums from the non-life insurance totaled 89.1 million euro, up from 84.2 million euro in 2017, while life-insurance premiums increased to 3.0 million euro from 2.5 million euro.
Total gross claims paid fell to 42.8 million euro in 2018 from 46 million euro a year earlier.
The total assets held by Kosovo insurance companies increased to 177.3 million euro at the end of December, from 177.1 million euro a year earlier.
Fourtreen insurance companies operate in Kosovo, one less than a year earlier.
