September 5 (SeeNews) - An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, headed by James Roaf, is due to visit Serbia on September 20, to discus the country's progress on the new economic reform programme and plans for next year, the government said.
In July, the IMF said its executive board approved a new economic reform programme for Serbia that will build on the precautionary stand-by arrangement successfully completed in February 2018.
Serbia's finance minister launched on Tuesday talks with IMF representatives on increasing pensions from October this year and abolishing the law on the temporary reduction of pensions, the government said in a statement.
The rate of the increase will be known this or next week, the government noted.
In March, Serbia's president announced the IMF supports Serbia's plans, after it was earlier a point of disagreement between the two sides.
In February, Serbia exited a successful $1.32 billion (1.14 billion euro) three-year stand-by programme with the IMF that overperformed many of its macroeconomic goals.
