December 28 (SeeNews) - U.S.-based technology services, consulting and software company HTEC Group has signed a contract to invest 4.5 million euro ($4.8 million) in a new development and research centre in North Macedonia, the government in Skopje said.
The contract is part of a five-year investment project of the company in North Macedonia launched in June 2021, the government said in a press release last week.
The new centre is planned to be launched in the next five years and create 170 jobs for the creation of high-tech software.
"HTEC Group continues with ambitious investment plans in the SEE region. The IT sector in North Macedonia is constantly growing, and HTEC Group is committed to contributing to its further growth and development," HTEC Group chief financial officer Miroslav Virijevic said in the press release.
HTEC, which had been founded in Serbia, started operations in North Macedonia in the summer of 2021 when it established its first office in Skopje that currently employs 130. The group delivers digital products and platforms across domains including healthcare, retail, transportation and mobility, logistics, fintech, green energy, media and deep technology.
The company's track record of innovative development across industries and domains makes HTEC one of the fastest-growing technology companies in Southeast Europe, achieving 100% year-over-year growth, Virijevic told SeeNews in an e-mailed interview in September.
Besides North Macedonia, HTEC has offices in Serbia, the U.S., the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Hungary, its website shows.
