SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 28 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in October rose 17.6% year-on-year, reaching 678,600, data from the National Statistics Institute (NSI) showed on Monday.
Citizens of EU member states accounted for 57.1% of all foreign tourist arrivals in October, up 25% compared to October 2015. Tourist arrivals from Poland increased by 55.4% on a yearly basis, with 55.5% of them being business trips.
The number of tourists who visited friends or relatives or just transited the country increased 14.9% on the year, accounting for 46.8% of all foreign tourist arrivals in October.
Vacation trips in October rose 18.7% on the year and accounted for 35.7% of foreign tourist trips, while business trips rose 22.9% on the year, reaching 17.5% of the total number of foreign tourist arrivals in October.
