March 28 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria jumped by an annual 47.6% in February, reaching 604,707, of which 34.6% were transit trips, the statistical office said on Tuesday.
Visitors from fellow EU member states accounted for 42.5% of all international arrivals in February, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report. Romania was Bulgaria's biggest EU feeder market, making up 37.6% of all foreign visitors, followed by Greece with 30%.
Visits to Bulgaria from other European countries totalled 287,257 in February, of which Turkey accounted for 43.5%.
Overall, Turkey was the source of the largest number of visitors in the review month - 124,942, followed by Romania, Greece, Ukraine, Serbia and the United Kingdom.
In February, holiday trips and business visits accounted for 40% and 12.5% of all international visitors' arrivals, respectively, with increases registered across the board in all observed categories.
