May 26 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria grew by an annual 21% in April, reaching 784,371, of which 37% were transit trips, the statistical office said on Friday.
Visitors from fellow EU member states made up half of all international arrivals last month, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report. Romania was Bulgaria's biggest EU feeder market, accounting for 41% of all foreign visitors, followed by Greece with 26%.
Visits to Bulgaria from other European countries totalled 315,541 in April, of which Turkey accounted for 48%.
Overall, Romania was the source of the largest number of visitors in the month under review, or 163,506, followed by Turkey, Greece, Ukraine, Serbia and Germany.
In April, holiday trips and business visits accounted for 34% and 14% of all international visitors' arrivals, respectively, with increases recorded across all observed categories.
