April 27 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Bulgaria in March fell by 8% year on year to some 287,900, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Tuesday.
Citizens of EU member states made up 37.5% of all arrivals of international visitors in the third month of 2021, down 30.5% on an annual comparison basis, NSI said in a monthly report on tourist numbers.
The arrivals of citizens from Greece declined the most among all of the observed countries in the month under review - by 65% compared to March 2020. Arrivals from Turkey rose the most - by 34.8% on an annual comparison basis.
The number of people who visited friends or relatives in Bulgaria or just transited the country represented 66% of all arrivals of foreign nationals in March. Business trips accounted for 21.3% of all international visitors' arrivals.
