November 23 (SeeNews) - Albania attracted 298,712 foreign tourists in October, compared with 206,439 in the same month last year, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
Foreign tourist arrivals reached 5.2 million in the first ten month of 2021, compared with 2.3 million in the same period a year earlier, the statistical office said in a statement.
In October alone, the number of domestic tourists rose to 302,810 from 274,728 in October 2020. Overall, the total number of domestic and foreign tourists came in at 601,522 in the month under review, compared with 481,167 in the same month in 2020.
In October 2021, Albania attracted 105,192 visitors from Kosovo, 33,879 from North Macedonia and 28,584 from Italy.
Albania confirmed its first two coronavirus cases in early March 2020. Later that month, the country closed its land borders and suspended all commercial flights in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.
