November 9 (SeeNews) - Croatia's telecommunications regulator HAKOM said on Wednesday it has received five applications in a public tender for licences for the use of the radio-frequency (RF) spectrum for mobile communication services.
The current mobile operators A1 Hrvatska, Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT] and Telemach Hrvatska have met all conditions to take part in the tender to compete for the use of the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2600 MHz frequency bands on national level, HAKOM said in a press release.
Two local telecommunications services providers, Digicom and Markoja, have met the conditions for taking part in the public auction for the use of the 3600 MHz band on regional level, it added.
The main phase of bidding starts on January 16, 2023.
HAKOM said earlier that it expects to take a decision to grant the licences in the first half of March.
The current licences for the use of these RF frequency bands will expire at the end of 2023. They are currently used for the operation of mobile communications networks of all generations (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G).
Hrvatski Telekom's shares traded at 174.50 kuna ($23.2/23.1 euro) on the Zagreb bourse intraday on Wednesday, up 0.29%.
