BUCHAREST (Romania), November 6 (SeeNews) – Two people were killed and one was severely injured in a fire that broke out on Thursday evening at a section of Rompetrol Petrochemicals’ high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit, the company said on Friday.
The accident caused a temporary production halt.
“Currently the production of high density polyethylene is halted but I have no further details. Supplies to clients will not be affected in any way,” a spokesman for the company told SeeNews late on Friday.
Rompetrol Petrochemicals is part of Romania's second-largest oil group Rompetrol.
The accident occurred at the HDPE production unit that was about to be re-started following a 10-day technical overhaul.
An investigation is underway, the company said in a statement.
