TIRANA (Albania), June 10 (SeeNews) – Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Albania rose 1.6% year-on-year in the firat quarter, reaching 285.6 million euro ($323.5million), the central bank said on Monday.
The net inflow of FDI increased by 8.3% in the January-March period compared to the previous quarter, the central bank said in a report.
In 2018, the flow of FDI into Albania rose to 1.02 billion euro, compared to 899.9 million euro in 2017.
Currently, Albania's economy is driven by two big energy projects - the construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) designed to carry natural gas from Azerbaijan to Italy via Albania, and works on a hydropower plant on the Devoll river.
