TIRANA (Albania), June 14 (SeeNews) – US-based construction management firm Hill International said it has been selected by the European Union (EU) as leader of a consortium including Deloitte Albania and Greek-based LDK Consultants to help Albania implement infrastructure projects.
The consortium will provide technical assistance to Albania’s institutions to strengthen capacity for the overall planning, preparation, and implementation of infrastructure projects in the country, Hill International said in a press release late on Thursday.
This assignment is part of the EU’s instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA) 2015 action programme for Albania, the statement added.
“The overall objective of the programmme is to strengthen the capacity and accountability of the state’s administration of the design and implementation of sector programmes and major infrastructure projects,” the statement noted, adding that this will improve connectivity within the country and the Western Balkan region in preparation for EU membership.
The project will support the Albania’s national investment committee secretariat, the department of development and good governance, all line ministries, and also regional institutions, agencies, and municipalities responsible for infrastructure projects in key sectors such as transport, energy, environment, social infrastructure, and business infrastructure.
