April 2 (SeeNews) - Croatian telecommunication equipment manufacturer Ericsson Nikola Tesla [ZSE:ERNT] said it has signed a new framework agreement with A1 Croatia for the supply of the radio part of the mobile operator's network.
Under the deal, Ericsson Nikola Tesla will remain the supplier of A1 Croatia's radio access network in the next five years, the telecommunication equipment manufacturer said in a statement on Wednesday.
"This will upgrade our strategic partner’s mobile network and enable the providing of new services and functionalities based on 5G technology, which is also a platform for a strong digital transformation of the entire society,“ Gordana Kovacevic, president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, said.
A1 Croatia, a subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria Group, said in March it was the first operator in the country to start testing the 5G network in the 700 MHz frequency band.
The company carried out initial tests of the 5G network at 700 MHz in parts of Bistra, near Zagreb, as well as on the A1 campus in the capital, reaching download speed of over 650 Mbps and upload speed of 120 Mbps, it said at the time. Testing of the 5G network also started last month in Osijek.
