February 14 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided 25 million euro ($28 million) as part of a 230 million euro debt facility to Slovenian steel producer Slovenska Industrija Jekla (SIJ), it said on Monday.
The financing will support the efforts of SIJ to further reduce its environmental impact, improving energy efficiency and climate-related disclosures, the EBRD said in a statement.
The proceeds from the EBRD loan will finance energy efficiency improvement capex at SIJ's production sites in Jesenice and Ravne na Koroskem.
The EBRD participated in SIJ's debut bond issue in 2015, followed by a 40 million euro participation in its 2017 debt facility.
SIJ Group is the largest vertically integrated steel producer in Slovenia and a leading Slovenian exporter with a strong presence in the international markets in 68 countries in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
