February 9 (SeeNews) - British tour operator Thomas Cook Group said on Thursday that holiday bookings in Bulgaria and Croatia for the upcoming summer have been rising, making up for continuing shift away from Turkey.
"Continued reductions in bookings to Turkey have been more than offset by strong demand for Greece. We have also grown bookings significantly to a number of smaller European destinations including Cyprus, Bulgaria, Croatia and Portugal," Thomas Cook Group said in a financial statement.
In September the Bulgarian unit of Thomas Cook said it targets 34% growth of foreign tourists in 2017.
More than 5 million foreign tourists visited Bulgaria last summer, the country's tourism ministry has said.
Croatia attracted 13.8 million tourists in 2016, up by 8.7%, the country statistical institute has said.
