February 23 (SeeNews) - Croatian fertiliser producer Petrokemija [ZSE:PTKM] said on Tuesday it is halting production of ammonium nitrate by the end of 2021 to repair damage caused by a recent earthquake.
Petrokemija is discontinuing the manufacture of ammonium nitrate to ensure the safety of the workers and the technological system itself, it said in a statement filed with the Zagreb bourse.
It added that the temporary discontinuation of the manufacture of ammonium nitrate does not have a significant impact on the company’s business operations.
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit Petrinja, in central Croatia, on December 29, causing at least seven deaths and significant material damage.
Petrokemija's shares closed 2.8% up at 66.2 kuna on Monday on the Zagreb bourse. They did not trade before noon on Tuesday.
