September 6 (SeeNews) - Labour demand in Croatia was 60% higher in August 2021, compared to the same month of 2020, and some 20% higher compared to pre-pandemic August 2019, a local think-tank said.
Compared with demand in 2019, August was the fourth straight month in which labour demand has exceeded its pre-pandemic level, which is a strong signal for a recovery of the labour market, the Institute of Economics Zagreb (EIZ) said in a monthly report on Croatia's labour demand measured by its Online Vacancy Index (OVI) published on Friday.
Demand for workforce of the traditionally most demanded professions: seller, waiter and cook, also rose compared to both August 2020 and August 2019. Demand for drivers and construction workers also increased.
The portion of job adds mentioning work from home accounted for 1.5% to 2% of all employment adds, an increase compared to the pre-pandemic period when it stood below 0.25% of all job adds.
OVI is a monthly index of online job advertisements developed by the EIZ in cooperation with web portal MojPosao.
