March 16 (SeeNews) - Croatian telecoms equipment manufacturer Ericsson Nikola Tesla [ZSE:ERNT-R-A] said on Wednesday it has signed a contract with Armenian operator Ucom for the construction of a 4G/LTE network throughout the territory of Armenia, including the capital city of Yerevan.
The first phase of the contract is valued at over 41 million kuna ($6 million/5.4 million euro), the company said in a filing with the Zagreb bourse.
The agreement includes the installation of radio and core equipment as well as related services. It also covers Ericsson Expert Analytics, a software suite which enables operators to predict customer satisfaction and automatically take closed-loop actions to improve it, the company noted.
"This 4G/LTE network deployment will improve network capacity and enhance speeds to allow our subscribers to enjoy a seamless, high-speed mobile broadband experience with faster browsing, downloads and new services. LTE is a key enabler for changes in the business and society," Ucom CEO Hayk Yesayan was quoted in the press release as saying.
Swedish telecoms equipment giant Ericsson owns 49.07% of the Croatian firm.
Ucom Telecommunications provides Internet, IP television and landline digital telephony through a single broadband connection. As of June 2015, the company has more than 100 000 subscribers and 800 employees.
