May 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's consumer prices rose by 9.4% year-on-year in April, after increasing by 7.3% in March, the national statistical office said on Monday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) went up 2.6% in April, following an increase of 2.1% in March, the Bureau of Statistics said in a monthly inflation report.
The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the biggest weight of 25.93% in the consumer basket, rose by 12.8% year-on-year in April.
The prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel prices, which have a 16.87% weight, grew by 8.8% on the year in April, while transportation costs surged 16.4%.
Croatia's average annual inflation accelerated to 2.6% last year from 0.1% in 2020.
Last month, the central bank raised its projection for the average annual inflation in 2022 to 5.4% from 3.5%-4% it forecast in February, reflecting direct and indirect unfavourable economic effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
