August 24 (SeeNews) - A1 Hrvatska, the Croatian unit A1 Telekom Austria Group, said on Thursday it plans to invest 200 million euro ($217 million) by the end of this year to improve its services and upgrade its infrastructure.
"This year we will invest 200 million euro, which is the highest ever amount since we are operating in Croatia," CEO Jiri Dvorjancansky said in a press release. Alone in the first half of this year, the company recorded 152 million euro investments, 280% more than in the same period last year, he added. "Continuous improvement of services and development of new ones position us 24 years as market innovator," he added.
The company claims to provide the highest number of gigabyte fixed connections in Croatia, 711,000, and expects to increase them to 800,000 by the end of the year.
In 2025, by building further 150,000 new fixed connections annually, A1 gigabyte Internet will be available at more than one million households, or 70% of all households in the Adriatic country.
Thanks to an upgrade and construction of its network, the share of 5G coverage of the population will reach 90% of the population from 87% by the end of this year.
