November 11 (SeeNews) - Croatia's technical consumer goods (TCG) market has expanded by 6.0% on the year to 4.76 billion kuna ($706 million/640 million euro) in the first nine months of 2019, market research company GfK said.
In the third quarter alone, the TCG market grew by an annual 1.5% to 1.6 billion kuna with the segment of major domestic appliances (MDA) being the main growth driver, while the telecommunications (TC) segment recorded a decline, a GfK TEMAX survey on Croatia published last week showed.
In particular, MDA sales in Croatia jumped 17.6% on the year to 313 million kuna in the third quarter alone and registered an 8.9% increase to 865 million kuna in January-September, the report said.
On the other hand, TC sales dropped 5.6% on the year to 848 million kuna in July-September, while still growing 8.7% to 2.64 billion kuna in the first nine months of 2019.
The sale of consumer electronics (CE), the third most important TCG segment, edged up by an annual 0.7% to 166 million kuna in the third quarter, while falling 9.5% to 486 million kuna in the first nine months.
GfK's technical market index (TEMAX) tracks the sales of technical consumer goods in more than 40 countries.
