July 22 (SeeNews) - China's Shanghai Electric Group plans to launch the operation of the 200 MW Pancevo gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Serbia in trial mode by October 1, Serbia'a energy ministry said on Thursday.
Shanghai Electric Group plans to commission CHP Pancevo to the investor, Russia's Gazprom Energoholding, by the end of 2021, the energy ministry quoted the deputy director of the Chinese company, Huang Zhengming, as saying in a press release.
"We expect the contractors to respect the deadlines, and the energy ministry is here to help the projects to be completed efficiently and successfully," Serbian energy minister Zorana Mihajlovic said during a meeting with Zhengming in Belgrade.
In October 2020, Gazprom postponed the commissioning of the plant in Serbia to 2021 from June 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
Serbian oil and gas group NIS [BEL:NIIS], in which Gazprom holds a 56.15% stake, signed an agreement for the construction of the CHP plant in Pancevo with Shanghai Electric Group in November 2018. A total of 180 million euro ($212 million) will be invested in the construction of the power plant, with the bulk of the funding to be provided by Gazprom.
